NCS awarded the NSW Premier’s ANZAC Memorial Scholarship for 2019

We are privileged to announce that Nowra Christian School has been awarded the NSW Premier’s ANZAC Memorial Scholarship for 2019.

The Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarship will give one student from Year 9 the opportunity to travel on an international study tour to develop their knowledge and understanding of the history of Australians at war.

In 2019 the Scholarship will provide funding for a study tour for 20 students to travel to Germany, France and Belgium during September and October. Students will visit the battlefields where Australians fought to learn about the causes of the First and Second World Wars, and to commemorate the service of Australian men and women.

All NSW High Schools were invited to submit an online expression of interest. Applications closed on Monday, 15 October 2018. A ballot was held on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 to draw 20 schools.

Our school was chosen in the ballot and is now responsible for selecting a maximum of three History students who are enrolled in Year 10 in 2019, and who will turn 16 years of age by 27 September 2019, which is the departure date of the tour.

Students who enter this scholarship need to work on an enrichment research project and undertake an interview for the selection process. I am sure you will join with me in following this journey for our Year 9 students.
