Nowra Christian School incorporates sporting activities into every stage of its students’ education and at every level, from basic participation in routine class sports activities through to representing the school in state or national competitions.

Encouraging healthy, active lifestyles through participation in sport from a young age not only helps in the classroom, but also teaches valuable life skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship, fairness, resilience and excellence.

Regular class sporting activities are incorporated into teaching programs from early primary years. Secondary students also participate in a sport and recreation program on a fortnightly basis. Students are able to choose from a wide variety of sports including surfing, school sport, ten pin bowling, bushwalking, mountain bike riding and community service.

A healthy and long-standing rivalry between Nowra Christian School’s two houses comes to the fore at annual athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals as well as in other house sports competitions.

Gala days and skills days throughout the year allow students to try their hand at a diverse range of sports including cricket, Rugby 7s, volleyball, AFL, OzTag, soccer, netball and basketball while compulsory participation in an intensive swimming and water safety program each November prepares students to be safe around water during the summer season.

Nowra Christian School also participates in inter-school sporting competitions and supports its high-performing student athletes to pursue excellence by participating in higher level representative competitions.
