Science Centre Excursion

On Friday 22 September, Years 3 and 4 went to the Wollongong Science Center.

The first thing we did was have our recess. Everyone sat with their friends outside. We got to sit at different tables.

After we had our recess, the Year 4s went to the Planetarium and watched two videos and looked at star constellations. The Year 3s got to play with, look at and try the exhibits. There was a dinosaur skeleton, strength test, air machine and a human skeleton.

Next it was the Year 3s turn to go to the Planetarium and the Year 4s turn to see the exhibits. In the Planetarium we got to see most of the star constellations. We also got to see what light years, minutes and seconds are. We now know how far the sun is from the Earth. It is about 8 light minutes away.

After the Year 3s had their turn at the Planetarium, we went to see a science show. At the science show we learnt that sound makes vibrations in the air.

Then we all had our lunch and a play on the grass. We also tried to figure out how to use a sun dial. After we had our lunch and had a play outside, it was time to go back to school. We had a great day!
