Liz and Tom attend RYPEN

Last weekend, Tom Plant and Elizabeth Curline were both participants in the Rotary Youth Program of ENrichment (RYPEN) Weekend which is run by the local Rotary Clubs and aims to enhance students' leadership skills.

Elizabeth writes:

'RYPEN was an enjoyable time away. It was held in the cabins at Old Mogo Town. On arrival we were put into colour coded groups and given a t-shirt, we were then shown to our cabins. Over the weekend we had activities for team building, and learnt about our strengths and weaknesses. We had talks on different topics that affect our age group e.g. bullying and drugs. We also had a bit of fun bush dancing the first night and an 'around the fires' the second night. The leaders of RYPEN were mature-aged people, and were some of the nicest people I have ever met. They put in so much effort for us to have a good weekend (especially the cooks who went to bed at 1am and woke up at 5am to feed us both days). They also had junior leaders, who were students who had been to the RYPEN camps previously.

RYPEN was a fantastic experience. I have kept in touch with many of the friends I have made from all over NSW and look forward to seeing them again one day.' Written by Elizabeth Curline
