Stage 3 Inter-school Basketball friendly matches

On Friday, 24 August, NCS students from Stage 3 played four games of friendly basketball against NAC in our MPC. These friendly games were arranged to allow our students to play some proper games against other teams ahead of a gala day at Shoalhaven Basketball Stadium coming up on Friday, in Week 6.

Our Stage 3 boys played two very competitive matches against their NAC counterparts. In the first match, Regan B opened the scoring for our boys, after NAC had scored a handful of unanswered points. Although they continued to press hard through the skill of Cohen S, Isaac C and Noah T, our boys were beaten by a team who had more experience playing together.

In the first girls game, our team were up against it, with some tall opposition players looking more like Year 12 girls than 12 year old girls (we joked with them about this)! Our mixed Stage team were soundly beaten by their Year 6 opposition. Alexis WJ and Corinne C were courageous throughout. Jordan D thoroughly enjoyed her first experience of representing her school at basketball.

In the second boys game our lads gave a great account of themselves, with a final score of 5-4 favouring their opponents. Ethan L and Darcy T were tireless in attack and Jonathan M's 2 point score got us to within one score of the opposition. Joseph P and Eli H defended stoutly throughout.

In the final girls game, our team were much more competitive, with Aleah G a standout, dribbling skilfully to try to turn defence into attack and Nancy O showing indefatigable mid-court play. We will be better for the game time.

Thanks to Tehlira P (Y8) and Matt M (Y7) for coaching our teams and to Cody and Dylan W (Y7) for refereeing the matches. Much appreciated.
