Sing a song of first place!

On Thursday 25 May, twelve of our secondary students, along with Mr West and Mr Harrison made their way to the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre to compete in the High School Choral section of the Eisteddfod and came home with first place.

The group performed two contrasting pieces 'Sing a song of sixpence' and 'When I grow up' which featured at last year's Thanksgiving Night.

Our sections included: Soprano - Jasmine Dickinson, Lisa Burge, Tamsyn McPhail. Alto - Rachel Hill, Charlotte Dickinson, Courtney Nielson. Tenor - Joel Clifton, Joey Ellery, Sam Chittick, Micah Perry. Bass - Sam Ellery, Caleb Mackie.

"Everyone was excited and nervous, especially standing next to Ulladulla High which had around 60 students competing. After a nervous start, we enjoyed ourselves on the stage and sung the best that we could."

While the adjudicator announced first place to NCS, there was much surprise and excitement among all the students. All in all, it was a fantastic day and we all look forward to competing again next year. A special mention goes to Sam Ellery who competed in his final competition with NCS.

The group also performed 'Sing a Song of Sixpence', acapella, for their peers at the Secondary Assembly this week.
