Stage 3 students soar at Basketball Gala Day

Friday Week 6, was the Shoalhaven Primary Stage 3 Basketball Gala Day in Bomaderry. NCS sent two boys and two girls teams. We joined hundreds of other students sitting in the grandstand before the day got underway. We entered a competitive and development team in both of the competitions. Each of our teams had a coach from the Year 9-10 PASS class at Bomaderry High. They were invaluable in helping organise our players, as well as substituting students on and off the court. Three of our four teams made it to the quarter finals after hard first round matches against other local primary schools.

In the girls comp, Alexis WJ finished as NCS' top scorer with 11 scoring shots. There were other standout performances from the likes of Chloe G who scored a long range 'bomb' to help her team to another victory and Aleah G who seemed to be everywhere on the court making interceptions and breaking up the play. Notable mentions go to Kayleigh W, Maddie C, Keonie A and Charlotte S who all played tirelessly for their teams.

In the boys competition there were standout performances from the likes of Jonathan M and Jesse R. Travis G and Noah T were tireless in defence. Cohen S landed a 'miracle shot' in the last 2 seconds of his team's quarter final, only to discover that 3 point shots only counted as 2s! So near ... In the development team there were solid performances from all the boys, especially Aiden S, Micah P and Joseph P, who all ran well. Darcy T was a standout for that team, making plenty of lung busting runs and inspiring his teammates.

We watched the semis and finals, before acknowledging referees, organisers, coaches, teachers and also the winning boys and girls teams.
