On Wednesday 31 May, our under 16’s Girls Rugby 7’s travelled to Kiama to compete in the Junior Rugby 7’s Tournament.
Competing against rugby-orientated schools such as Illawarra Sports High and TIGS, our girls showed they were a match for their more experienced competition, going down in their first match against ISH 4-1, but acquitting themselves very well against this selective sports group.
The girls had a long break and a little more training in the cold, windy conditions and came back in their second game against the much-fancied TIGS team, defeating them comfortably 5-1.
This is a great effort from our girls who have had very little experience, but who more than make up for it in intelligence, teamwork and courage. The team was well led by our own NSW and Illawarra representative, Ruari Von Prott.
We look forward to some more games in the coming months.
