Primary Metro Cup Football: That Winning Feeling!

On Thursday 25 May, NCS sent primary junior and senior teams to the Zone Metro Cup held in the Southern Highlands.

Both Stage 2 and 3 boys and girls football teams played four matches against local Christian schools in Moss Vale.

The senior team started with two 3-1 victories before finishing 'with a wet sail' beating their opponents 5-0 and 6-0 to win their competition and take home the trophy.

Tane M played very well in goal, making some great saves. Olly E was top scorer with four goals, closely followed by Toby M and Reagan B – both with three and a few others with two. Captain Rohan B was delighted to pick up the trophy on behalf of the team.

The junior team played cautiously in their first game, narrowly losing 1-0 to the eventual winners, ICS Cordeaux with Cooper Luke in goal playing incredibly well to keep his team in the match. They picked up the pace in their next match winning 2-1, before going on a ‘goal-fest’ in their last two matches winning 8-1 and 5-3.

Millie W played very well throughout, as did Kent E and Aiden S. The team, captained by player of the tournament, Jackson Croft, finished second place over all.

Both teams have made it through to the next level of competition - the state finals - to be held next term on 10 August in Penrith, Western Sydney.

Special thanks to Noah’s dad, Mr Tasker and Joel’s dad Mr Harlor, who coached the senior and junior teams respectively. Thanks also to all the parents and friends who made the long journey up the mountains to enjoy the sunshine and sports action.

Metro Cup netball

We also sent junior and senior primary netball teams to the Metro Cup. Both teams played well and with great spirit despite not coming away with a win. The junior team did manage to win two of its games and the senior team was very competitive, working well as a team. The positive attitude, hard work and fair play displayed by all made for a fun and rewarding day. Thank you to Mrs Thuaux for coaching and encouraging the teams on the day. A special thanks also to Jemimah Parker and Imika Bramble who umpired on the day.
