COVID-19 update - temporary closure of NCS from tomorrow

Dear Parents/Carers,
I am writing to inform you that Nowra Christian School will transition entirely to remote learning from tomorrow, Wednesday 1 April. This is necessary while a staff member seeks testing for COVID-19, following their contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 outside of our school community.
The school has sought advice from NSW Health and, although they did not mandate a closure, the School Board and Leadership have decided to take a precautionary approach in the interests of the health and wellbeing of students, staff and the wider NCS community.
It is important to note:
At no time has the confirmed COVID-19 case been on our school premises;
The staff member has had only minimal contact with this person;
The staff member has not shown any COVID-19 symptoms to date.
Pending the outcome of this test, a decision will be made in relation to when, and if, the school will be reopened prior to the conclusion of Term 1 on Thursday, 9 April. We will keep you informed.
Although our physical classrooms are closed, the work of teaching will continue. Teachers and students will still be engaged in meaningful learning via the alternative lesson delivery model that has already been successfully in place for the past week.
Thank you for your understanding and support in relation to these important matters. Please be mindful of upholding our entire school community, and indeed our global community, in your prayers during these challenging times.
Kind regards, Mr Rob Bray Principal
