Primary Super 8’s Cricket

On the 3 March, Years 5 and 6 students played at the Super 8’s Gala Day. Our team: Kent E(c), Caleb M(c), James M, Myles M, Mitchell J, Lucas J, Jay W, Riley W, Daniel B , Devin K. First, we played Cedars Christian College. Cedars won the toss and fielded. Caleb and Lucas opened. Lucas was unlucky with a golden duck from a peach of a delivery. Caleb scored 2 before being spectacularly caught. Kent scored a quickfire 22 off 11, retiring after hitting a six! Myles continued, scoring 8 runs (not out)! Mitchell made 3 off 5. Our total score was 3/55. Caleb opened the bowling with a great over. James bowled a very tidy over. Myles bagged 1/1. Kent bowled a maiden with an incredible side on run out by Riley. Devin bowled the fifth over with only 7 runs to his name. Lukas bowled a brilliant wicket maiden. Mitchell bowled the final over, conceding only 8 runs! Cedars scored 4/36. A great effort, considering we haven’t beaten Cedars in many years! In the In the second game, Caleb lost the toss and we were sent into bat. Kent and Caleb got off to a flying start, scoring a 32 run partnership off just 17 balls. Caleb scored 22 before retiring. Off 7 overs, we amassed a total of 63 runs. In our bowling, Kent was on a hat-trick, bowling a destructive 2 wicket maiden. We defended our score, keeping Southern Highlands to just 27 off 7 overs. We had won the trophy!!! Next, we had a friendly game. Those who hadn’t batted, had a chance to score some runs. Finally, Mr Wynn the organiser from Cedars, presented the winning team with the perpetual trophy. Kent and Caleb presented the individual medals to the NCS team.
