Important update regarding COVID-19
Dear Parents/Carers, The School Executive is continuing to monitor the COVID-19 situation closely, consulting with NSW Health, NSW Department of Education and CSA (Christian Schools Australia) and carefully evaluating the impact COVID-19 may have on the school and its activities.
Updated information on travel restrictions and isolation requirements is available on the Australian Government’s website here - https://www.health.gov.au/news/health-alerts/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-health-alert.
We continue to expect that all parents and carers within the school community will ensure that they are aware of, and comply with, the new Government requirements.
What we are doing right now
We have taken the view that it is appropriate, in light of this revised guidance, to minimise larger gatherings within our school community. With this in mind, and consistent with the most recent advice, we will be implementing the following measures:
All assemblies (including primary and secondary Monday morning assemblies) will be cancelled until further notice. This includes our Easter Assembly and ANZAC Assembly.
All sporting events and excursions are currently postponed or cancelled. This includes the upcoming School Cross Country and all CIS and CSSA events. The Primary and Secondary Camps will not be going ahead at the beginning of Term 2. The school is actively pursuing possible alternative arrangements.
The canteen will be closed this Thursday and Friday. From next week, the canteen will only be accepting online orders for recess and lunch (there will be no over the counter sales). Due to shortages of supplies, there will also be a more limited menu than normal. There will no longer be any parent or student volunteers in the canteen until further notice.
All students will be encouraged to wash hands at appropriate times throughout the day.
Enhanced school cleaning procedures have been enacted.
All staff, students and parents who have been overseas will be required to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to school.
All students, parents and staff who have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 will be required to self-isolate for 14 days before returning to school.
If students are displaying signs of illness at school, you will be contacted and arrangements made for them to be sent home with a carer. Your child should not return until advised by a doctor to do so. The school has measures in place to support students who are absent for extended periods of time due to illness or isolation.
What you can do to support us:
If your child is not well, do not send them to school. Particularly, please keep students at home who have any symptoms that correlate with COVID-19. These symptoms include:
- flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat and fatigue
- shortness of breath.
Please keep the school informed about ALL absences.
Talk to your children about good hygiene practices and help enforce these at home as well as at school. You can find more information about good hygiene practices here.
Please ensure that you sign in at the office, if you are visiting the school.
Community events postponed/cancelled
The following community events, which our school usually participates in, have been postponed or cancelled:
Relay for Life
The Shoalhaven Eisteddfod
ANZAC Day marches and services
As you can appreciate, this is a constantly changing situation and we are acting on the best advice available at this time. We will continue to keep you updated if there are significant changes or new developments. The health and wellbeing of our school community is our utmost concern. We appreciate your support and thank you for helping us to maintain a safe and stable learning environment for your children.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Kind regards, Mr Rob Bray Principal
