Picasso and his Dog

Stage Two students were introduced to Pablo Picasso and his artwork through a performance at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre on Tuesday 3 September. The performance was a combination of puppetry and live performance inspired by the true story of Picasso and his pet 'sausage dog' Lump. Students learnt about Picasso's love of animals and his fascination for drawing and painting them. They saw many examples of abstract art depicting dogs but also witnessed some very creative ways to form animals from a myriad of household items. Students were able to ask questions of the performers after the play, learning more about the performers themselves and also the set which was designed to look like Picasso's studio. A lovely, entertaining afternoon was had by all.
