Barangaroo Year 10 Sustainable Urban Development

On Wednesday 19 June, Mrs Arthur and Mrs Hetherington took the Year 10 Geography class to the Barangaroo development in Sydney. Students spoke to Lend Lease Community Sustainability Officer, Darren, about sustainable community development of integrated urban development. We explored the retail and emerging financial business district of Barangaroo. We discussed the changes that have occurred over time in the Rocks and Walsh Bay and the way in which future development is seeking to be carbon neutral and meet the growing demands on urban environments in the 21st century. Students were interested in the ways in which sustainability could interact with social justice.
