Four Seasons In One Day - Relay For Life 2019!
Last Saturday, NCS' Prime Movers Relay for Life team took to the track to walk and run laps for 10 hours at the Cancer Council's annual Nowra event. NCS has a rich history of participation in this community event, with our previous Principal, Mr Phil Smith, being a past RFL President of the organising committee.
NCS Prime Movers' 23 strong student team were joined by parents, teachers, friends and students from other stages, as they completed as many laps as they could manage. Several students walked or ran between 50 and 80 laps of the 300 metre track - a mighty feat. Our undercover stall area was used for face painting and henna tattoos, as the team sought to raise more funds on the day.
Students came and went throughout the day, some preferring to brave the rain showers in the morning, others preferred the windy, but sunny, afternoon and still more came in the chilly evening and even cooler night. Just a few managed to stay for the whole event. Mrs Lania Matts and her daughter Maddie were there for the whole 10 hours. Wow!
The Hope Ceremony was an emotional memorial to loved ones who are no longer still with us, but whose memories were kept alive as their faces adorned candle bags, lit in prayerful reflection.
Mr Hefferan was a massive help in setting up and packing away. Mrs Landstra, Mrs Curline, Mr McLennan and Mrs Hefferan helped manage our team. Mr and Mrs Croft's friend painted many faces and Eden Reid tattooed hands and arms with henna! Many parents came to lend their support, enjoy the 'vibe' and just relax in a social setting. There were plenty of lovely memorable moments, sharing our lives together and getting to know one another more.
Huge THANKS go to you all!
