Which Antivirus to get?
Which Antivirus do I get for my home and/or BYOD device?
Good question.
A couple of notes to clarify.
The school network provides filtering on all its internet traffic.
It is important for you to be aware that this internet traffic filtering is in place while anything is connected to the school network, but once a device is not connected to the school network, it is no longer filtered.
Internet Traffic filtering is a separate thing to antivirus.
The school uses SOPHOS Antivirus on all of its devices.
The school Antivirus protection does not extend to BYOD devices.
So one thing you are well advised to do for your own devices is to get some sort of Antivirus software installed.
There’s a lot of options out there, and quite a few are free.
Many are quite adequate, but it is a lot to expect something you got for nothing, to be the best option. Usually it's better than nothing but you usually end up getting what you pay for.
The following 2 products are very well regarded in the field of antivirus, and I recommend either of them. They cost in the vicinity of $50-$100 each year.
