HOSTING OPPORTUNITY – AUSTRALIAN GIRLS CHOIR We are excited to offer our students the opportunity to host the Australian Girls Choir in their homes for two nights:
56 six choristers between the ages of 10 and 17 will visit our school as part of the NSW leg of their ACT and NSW tour.
They will be with us for 2 nights from the evening of Thursday June 28 through to the morning of Saturday June 30.
During their time at the school they will run performing arts workshops and concerts with our students.
The choir was hosted by our school community in 2006 and are delighted to be returning
HOSTING REQUIREMENTS
We would like to invite you to host two or more choristers in your home:
Girls must be hosted in pairs or more as this helps them to feel comfortable in a new home.
It is not necessary for them to have a separate bedroom and mattresses on the floor or fold out beds are perfectly adequate.
The Australian Girls Choir will provide all meals for touring choristers when they are not with their host families.
It is appreciated that hosts provide breakfast each day and dinner on the Thursday and Friday evenings
Girls will need to be transported to and from school with your child on Friday and dropped off on Saturday morning around 8.30am

MORE ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN GIRLS CHOIR
The Australian Girls Choir has undertaken 40 tours around Australia and overseas and a highlight is developing new friendships through the hosting experience as well as holding workshops and exchanging activities with schools.
Past host schools have provided feedback that AGC girls were wonderful role models for their students. Host families couldn’t have been more impressed with the way the girls conducted themselves in the family home. Siblings were sad to bid farewell to their temporary big and little sisters and many of the families kept in touch after the visit.
Parents described the visit from the girls as enriching for their own children, with the girls being wonderful role models both in the home as they joined in on the family routine and at the school as young performing arts professionals.
Comments from a recent host family include “We hosted two girls 2 years ago and it was such a lovely experience that we decided to host again this year. These two were the most well-mannered guests we have ever had, noticing every detail of how to be of assistance and being alert to the ways of our family. They are open-minded, aware, and gentle, and full of life. Also, they manage on very little sleep! Always ready, always a smile. The performance by the AGC at SJI high school was AMAZING!”
Founded in 1984 by Judith Curphey OAM, the Australian Girls Choir has 5,750 girls in training in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. The AGC is a much loved cultural icon; like no other choir these girls perform with a vibrancy and energy that has been embraced by millions worldwide.
