Zone Touch 2017

Last Thursday, forty of our high school sportspeople from year 7-12 took part in the Zone Touch Gala Day for 2017.

The warm weather provided a tough test for competitors who played five or six games throughout the day as well as a final for our Junior Boys. They finished undefeated at the end of the rounds but lost the final to Calderwood in a heartbreaking extra-time drop off. They shone on the day with many of our young boys playing in their first Touch competition.

Our Senior girls also shone, going through as undefeated winners of their competition. This achievement was extra special, given the fact that they did it with only one substitute.

Our Senior boys gained third place in their competition after some excruciatingly close games, and our Junior girls acquitted themselves admirably in what was largely their first experience at the game.

The day was also a selection trial for South Coast Zone teams to compete at Port Macquarie next year in the CSSA State Carnival and it is great to be able to announce that NCS had the highest number of competitors selected for the zone teams of any of the schools in our zone. This is especially encouraging given that we have the smallest high school population.

Congratulations to all of our competitors not only for their great results, but also for the way that they conducted themselves and their excellent encouragement of each other and competitors from competing schools. Our Zone reps will be announced next year.
