War at Sea Exhibit comes to NCS

Nowra Christian School is pleased to present War at Sea: The Navy in WWI, an exhibition on loan from the Australian National Maritime Museum.

War at Sea draws on the personal accounts of WWI Navy serviceman, to tell the incredible stories of bravery and sacrifice amidst the drudgery of life at sea, patrolling, blockading and escorting troopships. It also explores the mystery surrounding the loss of Australia's first submarine, the AE1, and the role of the Royal Australian Bridging Train at Gollipoli in 1915.

As a special addition to the exhibit, we will be displaying the original portrait of Naval Stoker John James Bray who was serving on the AE1 submarine when it disappeared without a trace in September 1914. Perhaps, in the portrait, you will see a resemblance to a certain member of our school community.

The exhibition will be open to members of the NCS community (along with light refreshments) at the following times:

Friday 10 November, 3pm-4:30pm Tuesday 14 November, 5:30pm-6:30pm
