Which Antivirus to get?

Which Antivirus do I get for my home and/or BYOD device? Good question. A couple of notes to clarify. The school network provides filtering on all its internet traffic. It is important for you to be aware that this internet traffic filtering is in place while anything is connected to the school network, but once a device is not connected to the school network, it is no longer filtered. Internet Traffic filtering is a separate thing to antivirus. The school uses SOPHOS Antivirus on all of its devices. The school Antivirus protection does not extend to BYOD devices. So one thing you are well advised to do for your own devices is to get some sort of Antivirus software installed. There’s a lot o

A note from Mr Bray - 22 February 2019

“Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12: 13(b) (NIV) On a few occasions this week, I have been sitting in the staffroom and have overheard conversations between busy staff members who have commented that they are amazed about how quickly this school year is passing. I am also able to relate to these comments when I realise that Week 4 of Term 1 has now reached its conclusion! Whilst the weeks seem to be flying past, each one of them has been brimfull of a wide variety of amazing events and activities. On Tuesday, 12 February, I had the pleasure of hosting a morning tea for Linda Giesa. Linda is a Year 11 student from Berlin in Germany who is

Primary Super 8s Cricket

On 14 February, Primary students represented NCS at the Super 8's Cricket competition in Wollongong. Our team included Jonathan M (c), Regan B (c), Kent E (c), Mitchell and Lukas J, Daniel B, Devin K and Caleb M. Fielding first against Cedars Christian College, we restricted their score to 52 runs off 7 overs. Two wickets to Caleb in his first over (including a catch by Daniel who also took three catches for the day) helped remove their top two batsmen. Runs to Kent, Mitchell and Lukas moved us within striking distance during the chase, but we fell six short. During the second match against Southern Highlands Christian School, runs to Kent, Jonathan, Caleb and Regan helped push our score t

Hi, ho, hi, ho, off to the show we go...

On Friday, 8 February our Year 1 and Year 2 students went to the Nowra Show with their lovely Stage 3 buddies. We saw wonderful events, including the wood-chopping competition, farm animals, cow milking and even chook washing! It was so exciting walking through the pavilion, checking out the amazing entries. Some of our NCS students won prizes for their beautiful art works, amazing LEGO creations and so much more. It was a really hot day but we had so much fun. We would like to say a huge “THANK YOU!” to all the parents who came along to help us have a safe and happy excursion.

Senior music head for an Encore!!

Monday of Week 4 saw the senior music class and Mr West head to the Sydney Opera House to see last year's best of the HSC performers. The group caught the train from Bomaderry and arrived with plenty of time to have lunch at Town Hall. The concert was titled 'Encore' and the name did not disappoint, as every performance was very technical and well rehearsed. The main concert hall was full of other school students who had made a similar trip from different areas of NSW. The program worked in favour of our students as many performances related to their instrument. Some stand-out performances included a guitar piece which featured two soloists as they replicated a Phil and Tommy Emmanuel classi

‘Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers , your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.’ Nehemiah 4: 14 (b) – (NIV) Just 14 days ago, I began my first Bytes article for 2019, by stating ‘Well, I guess that it may come as a surprise to realise that school holidays are about to conclude and plans are well underway to commence the 2019 school year at NCS.’ Holidays are now well behind us and these ‘plans’ have now become a reality and I can assure you that we have ‘launched’ into 2019 with great energy and enthusiasm! Our school year began on Tuesday, 29 January with our Years 1-12 ‘Welcome Back’ Assembly. This was held in the
