Jackson Trost - Headed Outward Bound

Outward Bound is a course designed for students, 16-18 years, who have the potential to develop into community leaders, and who will get maximum benefit from completing the course. It is run by Outward Bound Australia and is sponsored by the Lions Clubs of the local area. The Navigator course is 12-day personal development experience for youth aged 15-17. The course is full of adventure, wilderness, new friends and fun! Students will learn things about themselves that they would probably never learn in a classroom and share their adventure with other young adults in a close social group. This year, the school was able to nominate three equally worthy students, who were required to complete a

Zone Touch 2017

Last Thursday, forty of our high school sportspeople from year 7-12 took part in the Zone Touch Gala Day for 2017. The warm weather provided a tough test for competitors who played five or six games throughout the day as well as a final for our Junior Boys. They finished undefeated at the end of the rounds but lost the final to Calderwood in a heartbreaking extra-time drop off. They shone on the day with many of our young boys playing in their first Touch competition. Our Senior girls also shone, going through as undefeated winners of their competition. This achievement was extra special, given the fact that they did it with only one substitute. Our Senior boys gained third place in their c

A final note from Mr Bray for 2017

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9: 6 (NIV) I confidently began last week’s Bytes with the comment ‘I am amazed that this is, in fact, the final edition of NCS Bytes for the 2017 school year.’ Well, as you can see, I shouldn’t have been so ‘confident’ as we actually have the opportunity for one more Bytes article for the year. In reality, I am very pleased that this is the case as so many wonderful events have occurred at NCS during this last week that I wish to share with all members of our school community! However, the first of thes

6ers galore!

On Wednesday, 22 November our Year 7 students traveled to Dapto for the Zone Cricket Skills Day with Mr West and Mr Drury. Our students were joined by other Christian schools from the area including Southern Highlands, Illawarra, Ceders and Calderwood. The few girls that attended joined with some of the Ceders girls and quickly became involved in the day. The boys left with three wins for the day and many stories of big hits and tricky catches. During the lunch break, trainers from the Sydney 6ers held a catching competition of which Micah and Callum Donovan achieved in the top 7 boys from the day! Mr West would like to especially thank Mr Drury for volunteering his time to help transport st

Defence family fun!

As the end of another year comes to a close, we have much to celebrate. This was certainly the feeling at the Defence family Christmas party last Friday. The celebrations began with afternoon tea and gingerbread decorating, but the highlight of the afternoon was, without a doubt, the slip ‘n slide. With the help of some of our ingenious dads, a few older students, and in particular Mick ‘Mr Fix-it’ Finlay, kids were towed, slid and slipped to their heart’s content. It was the perfect way to spend a hot afternoon. Thank you to the 22 families who were represented at the party and all those who helped out on the day. A special mention goes to Mrs Burge who joined in the fun and braved the slid

Amazing artists in Term 4

"Remember - don't paint your friend, paint your pot!" These words were NOT said by the beautiful Mrs Stewart (Visual arts High school teacher extraordinaire) when Year 1 and Year 2 classes went to work with her this week. In India, many festivals are celebrated, including Diwali, the light festival. So, as part of our learning in History and Geography this term, we were able to do some pottery work. We have glazed our tealight holders and can hardly wait to take these beautiful art pieces home. Thank you Mrs Stewart, Mrs Kenny and Mrs Tallon for helping us express our creativity.

Fish, Seals, Dolphins - and Year 1 and 2 ...

This week our Year 1 and Year 2 students have spent a lot of time splashing, paddling, kicking, blowing bubbles and having fun - as part of our annual Swimming program. It has been so exciting to see the children progress in their swimming confidence, technique and ability. Everyone has improved and every day the children listen well and do their best as they continue to develop their skills in the water. Once again, the swimming school teachers have commented on the excellent behaviour of the children as they represent our school in the community. Congratulations Year 1 and Year 2! We are looking forward to helping the beautiful Kindergarten children in the second week of swimming.

A note from Mr Bray - 1 December 2017

A psalm. For giving grateful praise. 1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. 2 Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. 3 Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his ; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. 5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100. I am amazed that this is, in fact, the final edition of NCS Bytes for the 2017 school year. A number of clichés immediately come to mind including ‘Time flies when you are having fun’ and ‘Time and tide wait for no m
