NCS Prime Movers at Relay for Life

On Saturday 25 March our NCS Prime Movers Team of 28 students, 4 teachers and many keen parents hit the Nowra Showground for a 10 hour long walk / run fest! The weather meant we walked under leaden skies and a smattering of rain, but that didn't dampen our resolve nor our fervour! We were there to put the FUN into FUNdraising! There were great stalls selling or giving away lots of goodies, entertainment aplenty from dancing to bands, as well as lots of food and beverage outlets to keep us 'fueled up' during the long hours. Thanks to the following students who were part of this amazing team effort: Amelia L, Thomas B, Abi W, Aleah G, Corinne C, Kayleigh W, Dylan W, Cody W, Charlie G, Noah S,

Year 5/6 students get F.I.T!

Last Tuesday 21 March, Mrs Davey and 40 Stage 3 students from NCS hosted the Crusaders 'School Ministry Team' and 25 students from Shellharbour Anglican College & Illawarra Christian School for our twice-yearly Followers In Training (FIT) event. FIT (Followers in Training) is a Christian leadership program designed to help Year 5 & 6 students grow in their faith, and to understand what a Christian leader is and how they can serve God at school. This term the theme was "CRU leaders are servants" and students explored what the Bible has to say about this important topic. They also attended a practical elective session. The three options were: 1. Teaching a memory verse at school 2. Leading a g

A note from Mr Bray - 31 March 2017

Every morning I have the amazing privilege of being involved in a short devotional time with our staff team at NCS. Devotions are presented on a rotational basis and each new day I eagerly look forward to discovering what will be presented from God’s word. What is more, I delight in the incredible variety of stimulating ways in which staff choose to present these challenging devotions. This might involve music and songs, video clips, personal reflections, dramatic skits, flash cards, favourite Bible passages and so much more. How fortunate we are to belong to a Christian school community where we share a common faith and recognise the authority of God over our lives! The focus Bible verse th

Week 8 at NCS has again seen our students and staff involved in an amazing range of activities! Each time I glance at the school calendar, I realise that teaching and learning experiences come in an incredible variety of shapes and styles. I consider myself to have been most fortunate to participate in just a few of these activities during the week. On Tuesday, some 38 NCS Year 5 and 6 students joined with fellow students from Southern Highlands and ICS Christian schools to participate in a ‘Followers in Training’ (FIT) program. This creative program was presented by staff from the Crusader Union of Australia. Crusaders is a Christian ministry group working with independent schools to help s

Senior music head to the Opera House!

Monday of week 8 saw the senior music class and Mr West head to the Sydney Opera House to see last year's best of the HSC performers. The group caught the train from Bomaderry station and arrived with plenty of time to have lunch at Martin Place before the show. The concert was titled 'Encore' and the name did not disappoint, as every performance was very technical and well rehearsed. The main concert hall was full of other school students who had made a similar trip from different areas of NSW. The program worked in favour of our students as many performances related to their instrument or were studied in class. Some stand out performances included a Jazz piece which featured the drummer he

‘I am the Lord, and I do not change…’ Malachi 3:6(a) It is truly amazing how many different events can occur in just one week at Nowra Christian School! One only needs to view the whole-school calendar to locate an incredible range of stimulating activities that actively engage our students right the way through from Kindergarten to HSC. Some parents might look at these events and conclude that the world of education has changed considerably from the time when they went to school. This topic of ‘change’ was further brought to my attention on Tuesday evening when our dedicated Board members met together, as they do every month, to carefully consider matters related to the sound governance of

Happy Pi (π) Day

Thank you for all the contributions towards π day. This joyous day was filled with some π scavenger hunt, π landscape artwork and π digits recitation. Of course, we had the most enjoyable time eating meat pies and apple turnovers with the π symbol! Thank you especially to Mrs Wainwright, Mrs Perry, Mr Clarke, Mrs Stewart and each of you for making the day a fun and successful one! We raised $150, and, whilst we were going to use it on Mathematics resources, we feel it is more important to donate the money to those in need via Caring Box, which goes to Nowra Anglicare. Our champion π recitation is Elizabeth Curline who worked hard and is able to recite up to 162 digits! Congratulations Liz! Y

Stage 3 Netball against NAC

On Friday 3 March our Stage 3 girls played two friendly games against Nowra Anglican College. The games were played well and everyone displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the event. In the first game NCS score 4 goals and NAC scored 7. In the second match NCS scored 11 goals and NAC scored 3. The girls in stage 3 had been training every lunch time leading up to the event and are to be commended on their commitment to improving their netball skills. The girls will have the chance to compete in gala day later in the term and possibly a rematch against NAC. A big thank you to Charlotte and Olivia for umpiring the matches and assisting with training the girls. Well done girls! You played
