Principal's Welcome
Families, quite rightly, want a good education for their sons and daughters. Every school seeks to provide a good education for the children and young people in its care. Employers are constantly pursuing people who are the product of a good education .
But, what is a good education ?
Nowra Christian School believes that a good education is an education that provides students with a wide range of opportunities to discover and develop their gifts and abilities. These gifts may be academic, in the creative or performing arts, in sport, or in caring for others. We believe that each student can best discover and develop the gifts that they have in a caring, secure environment, where they, as individuals, are valued irrespective of their abilities. We believe that a good education occurs in an environment where students are free to pursue excellence. We believe that a good education develops in the students an understanding of the importance of using our abilities in a way that brings true benefit to others.
Nowra Christian School provides education for students from Kindergarten right through to the Higher School Certificate. Our students benefit from working in an environment where they are known and cared for by the qualified and experienced teachers and ancillary staff who love and want to serve Jesus Christ. Our students benefit from being part of a community where parents have ready access to the school so that they may work in partnership with the teachers.
Our students benefit from the opportunity of moving through their schooling with friends with whom they have built supportive relationships since the beginning. The move into Junior Secondary is not an abrupt step, as they have already met many of the Secondary teachers and benefited from using many Secondary facilities during their Primary years. Our Senior Secondary students benefit from the less stressful approach to the HSC provided by our innovative "focused" approach.
From time to time enrolment places open up in each of the grades within the school, and especially for the beginning of Years 7 and 11. New students find themselves welcomed and cared for and quickly become a part of the school community.
The school's approach, which allows it to provide this good education, is based on the Christian principles on which the school is built.
The Bible tells us that each individual is a special creation, loved by God, redeemed by Jesus, and designed to be living in, working in, and contributing to a community, so that each member of that community may benefit. It tells us that there are good reasons to pursue truth, compassion, honesty and justice.
Nowra Christian School's Biblical approach to providing a K-12 Christian education has been valued by hundreds of families in the Shoalhaven for over a generation. I trust that as you look at our website and as you meet with us, that you will better understand why.
